Hello everyone!  Welcome or welcome back to my podcast where we are exploring the movement of the sun and the earth through the Human Design Chart as well as some Shamanic wisdom to help us along our path.  Today is February 24, 2025, and the sun is lighting up Gate 37 - the Gate of Peace, and the earth is grounded in Gate 40 - the Gate of Restoration.  If you are just finding me, don’t worry about what you may have missed; you are welcome to go back and listen to previous episodes, or you can just jump in where we are.  I do recommend, however, that if you are new to Human Design and/or Shamanism, go back and listen to Episode 1 of this podcast.  I give a brief introduction to both concepts there, with a lot of the “lingo” explained.  You can also read the Introductory blog post on my website, where I briefly introduce both concepts; it may help you as we move through the year.

So, with that being said, let’s get started because I am very excited to talk about these energies this week!

The sun is in Gate 37, the Gate of Peace.  This is yet another emotional gate, as it is connected to the emotional solar plexus.  The challenge of this energy is to find inner peace as the true source of outer peace.  Let me say that again.  The challenge is to find inner peace as the true source of outer peace.  So often we have it backward.  We try to control our outer circumstances in order to obtain inner peace.  We think that if this situation was better, or if that situation changed, or if the chaos at work stopped, or if our kids would just behave better, or if we didn’t have so much to do, or whatever other narrative we can come up with….if THOSE things were better or different, THEN we will feel peaceful.  We seek outside of ourselves for the peace that can only be found inside ourselves.  We need to find inner peace first and then bring that into our environment.  Not the other way around.  We know we have mastered this concept when we can maintain our inner peace regardless of what is going on in our outside world…regardless of whether the kids are screaming, or our boss is a jerk, or the bills keep piling up, or this thing didn’t go as planned or how we wanted it.  Despite any of that, we still have inner peace.  That is quite a challenge, and it takes a lot of hard work and practice, but what a wonderful place that is!

The energy of Gate 40, which is where the earth is this week, compliments the sun’s energy very nicely.  This is the gate of restoration and it asks us to restock, restore and replenish our inner resources by retreating from our community.  It begs of us to take responsibility to care for ourselves FIRST and not abdicate our own self-care to take care of others.  Once we have replenished, we can then bring our renewed selves back into our communities and we have so much more to give.  I just love the energy of these two gates.  It is giving us permission to engage in radical self-care!  You have a permission slip to do whatever brings you joy and restores your energy for the next 6 days!  What will you do?  Go away to a secluded cabin in the woods for a few nights?  Take multiple bubble baths?  Clear your schedule and sleep in every day?  Get a massage?  Visit a spa?  Take long walks in nature?  Engage in a hobby that you haven’t picked up in a while? In traditional Human Design, I think this is called the Gate of Loneliness.  That word can have a negative connotation.  I know I have often looked at loneliness negatively.  When I would feel lonely, I would immediately feel like I needed to find people to be around; that I needed to “get rid of” that feeling because it was uncomfortable for me.  But the truth is, those other people rarely, if ever brought me what I needed.  I often still felt lonely and empty, even after engaging with others.  I was looking outside myself for answers that can only be found from within.  I was looking outside myself for validation, which also is best coming from within.  I was seeking outside myself for the relief that could only be obtained from going inward.  I wonder if you can relate.  I still struggle with this, but I am getting better at recognizing when I need to find some alone time, and after I honor that need by retreating for a while, I almost always end up finding peace and a sense of restoration.

The card I pulled from the Mystic Wanderer deck by Austeen Heeney to go along with this energy is the Feather card, which I think further confirms what gates 37 and 40 are telling us.  Let’s read.

Air is the element of freedom, flexibility, and playfulness. It is time for you to work through some heaviness that has been weighing on your heart and plaguing your mind. This heaviness has been upon you a long time, years maybe. Rediscovering your inner child, humor, and what makes you laugh may be the treatment for this. Take the "not so serious" attitude for an hour or two. See how it changes things or how it doesn't. It may be time to dive into healing from childhood traumas. Don't tie yourself down to anything for a dy. No commitments, no responsibilities, just you and whatever you want to do. Give yourself that freedom of choice. There can be great strength in the element of air, as well as softness. Find both of these attributes; search for sudden intense opportunities, and take them.

Some suggestions that this card gives are: Try any type of movement class to help break up heavy energy. Babysit a niece/nephew or cousin. Play a game you used to love as a kid. Jump in puddles. Do not schedule anything for a whole day, and just go with the flow. Do something you always say you don't have time to do. Watch something that makes you laugh!

So there are a few more ideas about what might bring you some peace and restoration - finding something fun and lighthearted to do - something that will take your mind off of whatever chaos is going on in your outer world and will help you maybe find some balance.

So here are some questions for you to contemplate this week.  Get your journals.

  • What habits, practices and routines do you have that cultivate your inner alignment with sustainable peace?  If the answer is none, what can you do to change that?  Commit to one thing, no matter how small.  It can be simply sitting quietly for 2 minutes a day.  It may not seem like much, but we have to start somewhere.  Doing the small things will build momentum for us to gradually do bigger and bigger things.

  • When you feel your outer world is chaotic and disrupted, how do you cultivate inner peace?

  • What role does loneliness play in your life?  If you’ve looked at it as a negative emotion, can you shift that opinion to see it as a sign that you need some alone time to recharge?

  • Are you doing enough to take care of yourself?

  • Are you abdicating your responsibility for your self-care?

  • What FUN thing are you going to do today?

Tune in next on March 2nd, when we talk about the sun moving into Gate 63 - the Gate of Curiosity and the Earth moving into Gate 64, the Gate of Divine Transference.
