Hello everyone!  Welcome or welcome back to my podcast where we are exploring the movement of the sun and the earth through the Human Design Chart as well as some Shamanic wisdom to help us along our path.  Today is February 7, 2025, and the sun has entered Gate 49 - the Gate of the Catalyst, and the earth is in Gate 4 - the Gate of Possibility.  If you are new to Human Design and/or Shamanism, I highly recommend that you go back and listen to Episode 1 of this podcast.  I give a brief introduction to both concepts there, with a lot of the “lingo” explained.  Or you could read the Introductory blog post here, where I also briefly introduce both concepts; it may help you as we move along through the year.

A quick announcement before we start….if you are in the Traverse City, Michigan area, and would like to experience a mini human design reading, come to Higher Self Bookstore on Saturday, February 15th from 10 am to 4 pm.  I will be at their metaphysical fair                 there doing 20-minute mini human design readings for $30.  All you need to do is show up with your birthdate, time and place and we can do a reading.  I’d love to see you and introduce you to this amazing modality.

So, without any further ado, let’s see what this week has in store for us.

The Sun is in Gate 49.  This is what we would consider an “emotional” gate, as it is attached to the emotional solar plexus and it is called the Gate of the Catalyst.  Now, let's think about what it means to be a catalyst.  In chemistry, a catalyst is a substance that increases the rate of a chemical reaction without itself experiencing any permanent chemical change.  Transferring that notion to human design, we are asked to be aware of the emotional climate around us, but to not be affected by that climate.  In order for that to happen, we need to be strong in our convictions; we need to be uncompromising in our principles.  We need to be strong and stoic.  I am picturing a tall old oak tree that remains unaffected by the winds that blow around it.  But in order to be strong and stoic and steady in the emotional storms and dramas of life around us, we must be aware of what our core principles and convictions are.  We have to know what we stand for - what we believe in - what principles we are unwilling to compromise no matter what.  And we have to be committed to standing true to ourselves. The sometimes unfortunate part about having strong and uncompromising convictions is that some people with differing thoughts or values may organically fall by the wayside.  But, in order to remain aligned, we must remain true to ourselves and if that doesn’t suit the narrative of others, so be it. That may seem harsh, but consistently compromising ourselves because of others will only cause suffering in us in the long run. I also understand that this is a tall order that takes years of cultivation and practice.

Let’s see if the earth’s energy can offer any assistance with making that a little easier this week.  The earth is in Gate 4 - the Gate of Possibility.  This Gate is located on the Anja Center, which is all about thinking.  It is kind of the opposite energy as what we were just talking about.  We just shifted from "feeling" energy to "thinking" energy.  Gate 4’s energy wants us to figure things out.  Those of us with that gate highlighted all the time may feel constant intense pressure to try and figure things out - even things that are not ours to figure out or things that are not “figure-out-able.”

But I think this energy will help us this week.  If we find ourselves getting caught up in the emotions of our environment, maybe taking some time to contemplate new ideas - to dream about new possibilities - and to refine and refocus our alignment will be helpful.  We can refocus and strengthen our commitment to our convictions; we can redraw and reinforce our boundaries; and we can simply allow others to "be" without getting caught up in the drama of the moment.  Again, these are tall orders and take a lot of practice.  It is very easy to allow ourselves to slip into the drama of the moment - to engage in gossip - and to let the emotions of others seep into our aura.  It gives us a bit of an adrenaline rush that gives us a momentary high only to leave us feeling depleted and disappointed on the other side.  Disengaging, setting boundaries and lovingly but firmly removing ourselves from the situation, however that looks, may be uncomfortable in the moment, but as long as what we are doing is in line with our highest self, it will feel better in the long run.  And the more we do it, the easier it gets.

The Oracle card I drew from Austeen Heeney's deck The Mystic Wanderer was the Sun card. It reads as follows:

The sun symbolizes directness and focus, mostly upon a linear line. It breeds life into things that you have been manifesting and creating. This card represents a time of great strength, drive, and masculinity in you. You are blessed with a line of intense concentration straight to your dreams, desires, and wants. Life feels full, your energy has sky-rocketed, and things are just happening so fast. You are no longer loaded with self-doubt, uncertainty, distraction and fatigue. As this is a wonderful space for you to grow outwardly, be cautious of spending too much of this new vitality at one time. Let it sustain you throughout an extended length of time (maybe weeks to months), like a slow fiery burn. Your every move is powerful; it is your time to shine. Shine bright like the sun, dear wanderer, for as with all stars, there comes a dimming, so enjoy the time now. Speak with conviction for others are awaiting your words.

That last line fits in so well with this week's energy - to "Speak with conviction, for others are awaiting your words."

So this week, I think we are being called to: 1.  Get clear on our convictions.  2.  Work on not compromising our convictions regardless of our environment.  3.  When the timing is right (and we will know), speak with conviction, for others are awaiting our words.

Additionally, here are some questions to ponder - take what resonates with you and leave the rest.

  • What principles and convictions do I have that I am unwilling to compromise?

  • How does it feel when you allow your principles to fall by the wayside in order to make others happy?

  • What do I need to let go of right now to create room for me to align with higher principles?

  • What ideas do I have right now that I need to nurture?

  • What possibilities do these ideas stimulate?  Make a list.

  • What thoughts, ideas, and possibilities am I ready to voice with conviction?

Tune in next on February 13th, when we talk about the sun moving into the Gate of Passion and the Earth moving into the Gate of Devotion - just in time for Valentine’s Day!
